Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Track continues to do Great Things!

It was a long spring break…but a lot of the Bear track team showed up Saturday April 9th for the Grizzly Invitational at Logan High.

The 4×800 team of Devon Roberts, Colby Hamson, Ethan Hurst and Luke Summers started off the meet with a nice 2nd placing showing and school record of 8:34.  Devon Roberts ran PR in his leg with a time of 2:07. Rachel Fronk had an excellent time of 13.53 in the 100m and a 12th place finish.  Freshman Kelsey Larkin followed suit with a 13.70 and 16th place.  Rachel finished off a great meet running 27.61 in the 200m for 11th place. Bridger Beus medaled in the 100m and 200m placing 3rd in both races and times of 11.55 and 23.55.  Great showing today for Bridger against some top competition. Fellow senior Luke Summers medaled on the awards stand in the 1600m by also placing 3rd with a season best time of 3:34.48. Both Bridger and Luke have region leading marks.

Sariah Rees continued to shine in the 400…running 1:04.60 and placing 9th.  Kaysie Winward had PR’s in both the 400 (1:06.47) and 800  (2:33.27) placing 15th and 12th respectively.  It was a grueling double since both races are close together. The 4×100 girls team of Kelsey, Sariah, Rachel and Bailey Christensen ran 53.43,  good enough for 8th place.  The boys team of Jacob Eggli, Bridger, Ethan and Jared Manning did one better and ran 45.01 for 7th place in the boys 4×100.

Bailey Christensen broke the 50 second barrier for the first time in the 300h, running 49.99 and placing 8th. Ethan Hurst got on the podium with a solid 2:04.19 and 5th place in the 800m. The meet ended with a season best mark by the girls 4×400 relay team of Sariah, Kaysie, Bailey and junior Katie Pingle.  The team came in at 4:25.78 and placed 6th.

It was a windy and sunny day.  Wasn’t too hot, but definitely a long tough day. We are really proud of the kids as they do extra work to get ready for Cache Box at Sky View High School today, Monday, April 18th.  Go Bears!
