Boys Student Athlete: Alex Jackman
Alex Jackman is a senior center back on the soccer team. Alex has helped the team to a fast start by anchoring the defense in the middle and being a leader by example. The team was able to get off to a 5-0 start aided by a defense that only surrendered 3 goals in the first 5 matches. Alex also helped the team reclaim the county cup with a 2-1 victory over Box Elder. The victory was the first over the Bee’s in over 20 years. Alex is also a 4.0 student and was voted to be a captain by his teammates and coaches. His work ethic and coach ability has put the team in a position to qualify for state, after missing last year.

What a pleasure it has been to teach and watch Alex these past 3 years! I remember teaching him as a sophomore, thinking what a conscientious and sharp student he was! I would watch as he came early in the morning to Jazz band then stay late afterwards for soccer practice or cross country and every time I passed him in the hall he always had a smile and a hello! I get exhausted just thinking of his schedule.
I also watched as many times I would be outside getting the football field ready for a game and looking over during lunch and seeing Alex practicing his soccer during his lunch. There is no question he knows what it takes to be a success, hard work, a great attitude and perseverance. So it is no surprise he has had a very successful year so far on the soccer field, in cross country and in the classroom as he has a 4.0 GPA throughout his high school career. Alex truly exemplifies what we are looking for in our student athletes and has been a great example to the underclassman. Best wishes Alex on all your future endeavors!
