Thursday’s game against Juan Diego Catholic was a heartbreaker for Bear River, as they lost the lead late in a 4-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with Juan Diego Catholic batting in the bottom of the fifth when Campbell Magraine singled off of Jake Dahle, driving in two runs.
Bear River took an early lead in the second inning. Marshall Pond singled on a 3-2 count in the second inning, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the second inning, Juan Diego Catholic tied things up at one. Kolbee Gagon drove in a run when he walked with the bases loaded.
Colby Finn earned the win for Juan Diego Catholic. He pitched six innings, allowing one run, five hits, and striking out one. Campbell Magraine recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Juan Diego Catholic. Jake Dahle took the loss for Bear River. He tossed six innings, surrendering four runs, six hits, and striking out one.
Pond led Bear River with one run batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day. Bear River was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Pond had the most chances in the field with nine.
Juan Diego Catholic had six hits in the game. Magraine and Easton Rex each collected multiple hits for Juan Diego Catholic. Juan Diego Catholic didn’t commit a single error in the field. Magraine had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
