Bears News · State Tournament Produces Two State Champions In Wrestling!

Congratulations to our Wrestling team for finishing 4th in the 4A State Championships.  We had two wrestlers who not only brought home individual state championships but inspired us with their stories!

The first State Champion we have is Kaygen Canfield at 152!  He is a three time state champion putting him in a very elite group.  What makes it even more impressive is the fact that when he first hurt his knee in football he was told he probably wouldn’t be able to participate in sports until part way through the baseball season.  Kaygen worked extremely hard and kept a great attitude and was back wrestling by the second Region match.  Thanks for showing us what can happen with hard work and a great attitude.

Our Second State Champion at 220 is Logan Pond!  Logan too showed the results of hard work and grit!  Logan played basketball up until last year as a Sophomore.  So Logan, who is an excellent student, used his intelligence as well as amazing work ethic and determination to make up for  the  lack  of experience that others he wrestled may have had!  Thanks for showing us that just because things don’t always go  as planned that you  just  work hard and make the very best of  it!

In addition Scot Robertson, a freshman at 113 took home 2nd place in the State and Zack Bingham brings home a 3rd at 106.

Also making us very proud was Zac Miller who was one of ten wrestlers in the state to be awarded Academic All-State at the state tournament!

A big thank you to all the wrestlers and Coach Smart and his staff for representing our school and community so well!
