Boys Athlete’s of the Month: Weston Hirschi

Weston is a great leader on and off the mat. He is always willing to do extra to help his teammates and Coaches. It is not uncommon to see Wes helping other kids work on technique to improve their wrestling skills. Wes has been around the sport a long time his parents are both very involved in the success of the children. Other wrestlers look to Wes as a leader, a wrestler and an all around great person on and off the mat.

If we as Coaches need something done for the team Wes has always been there to make sure it gets done and gets done right. His hard work dedication and personality have made him successful on the wrestling mat and classroom. I am sure that these same traits will make him successful in his future endeavors as well.

It always makes me happy to see good things happen to great people and this is definitely the case with Weston!  I had the distinct pleasure of teaching Wes in health and many of the same qualities that his coach mentioned you could see in the classroom even as a Sophomore.  One of his many attributes that I recognized right away was his desire to do his very best every time in everything he did. Something I was always taught was if it is worth doing it is worth doing right and the very best effort you can.  Weston is the perfect example of this which is why as I look at his 4.0 GPA it is no surprise. He did this while taking many upper division and college classes. Principal Capener and I were so impressed with Weston that we chose him last year to represent our school at a state leadership conference.

I have always appreciated Weston and his kindness, not only to me but to everyone he comes in contact with. As Coach Smart mentioned he is always looking for ways to help out others and never shies away from hard work. If I was hiring someone that I needed to make my organization better than it already was I would hire Weston because of his great leadership skills, his willingness to serve others and his great attitude.  Thanks Weston for being the perfect poster student athlete of what we want representing our school and community.
