Boys Athlete of the Month: Logan Pond

Logan Pond has always taken on the role of leadership in the programs he has been involved with. Logan could be the most well-rounded athlete I have ever coached. Not only has he maintained a 4.0 GPA, with a 33 on his ACT, but also he has been involved with football, wrestling, swimming, and soccer, as well as playing in the orchestra. His ability to help motivate others is inspiring to all who come in contact with Logan. He has also managed to overcome setbacks from injuries, where he has used his circumstances to better himself and those around him. As Logan continues to move forward, it can be seen that his dedication and determination will allow him to be successful in whatever path he chooses to take.

As I have watched Logan he has been a real anomaly!  He has done things I have never seen before.  He has really exemplified the phrase, “taking a lemon and making lemonade.”  He had a severe knee injury which made it so he couldn’t wrestle and didn’t know for sure when or if he would be able to come back.  This could have been devastating as he had taken state the year before.  However instead of complaining or moping around once he got clearance from the doctors he worked really hard and he joined the swim team and then was able to finish up the last part of the wrestling season.  In addition this spring he is the returning goalie on the soccer team in which he does an amazing job but he is also going to help the track team out by throwing for them.  He also has competed in the orchestra while maintaining that 4.0 GPA.  He did this while taking a very difficult load of honors classes, college classes and higher level classes.  It makes me tired just thinking about it!  Yet he does this with a smile always on his face and plenty of energy.  It is going to be fun to see what great things Logan accomplishes in the future.  Thanks Logan for showing what can happen with hard work and a great attitude.
