Bear River opened region 12 play on the road against the defending 3A State Champions Ridgeline High School. Neither team was willing to concede the game and therefore it turned out to be quite an exciting battle of wills. Bear River enjoyed a six point advantage at halftime but that lead was quickly wiped away at the start of the third quarter. The game saw a couple of different runs by both teams in the second half as Ridgeline sped out to an eight point lead in the third. However, the Bears would not relent and showed a lot of fight and character as they found a way to tie the game at 49 apiece with 11 seconds to go. Bear River’s Parker Coombs penetrated the Ridgeline zone and made a beautiful pass to an open Ren Fonnesbeck in the corner who promptly nailed a three-point shot with 3 seconds remaining in the game to give the Bears a thrilling 52-49 win.
