The Bear River team played two games in one day as they battled Sugar-Salem High School from Idaho in the night-cap on Friday at the Star Valley Shoot-Out. After a tough defeat earlier in the day the Bears were forced to find the energy and the toughness to overcome their disappointment and lace them up against a very aggressive and physical Sugar-Salem team. It seemed it may be a difficult task as the Bears made just 2/11 three-point shots in the opening quarter and fell behind early. Fortunately for Bear River they found their stroke in the second and third quarters as they went 8/13 from behind the line and out-scored Sugar by nine. Bear River made a total of 11 three-point shots in the game and pulled away from Sugar in the second half. Bear River’s two junior guards, mark Huber and Ren Fonnesbeck combined for 41 points. Ren was particularly hot as he made 6 three’s in the game to help Bear River pull out the win. The two senior guards, Wyatt Roholt and Parker Coombs had 10 assists between them.
