Bear River advanced to the championship game of the Star Valley Shootout Saturday after upending Bruce Randolf of Colorado 72-28 then handing a good Sugar Salem team from Idaho a 60-47 loss. Saturday afternoon despite a valiant effort by the Bears they suffered their first loss of the season to a very talented team from Idaho Falls. Hillcrest jumped out to a 10 point lead right out of the locker room but the Bears never faltered and found their own fight and pushed the 5A school all the way to the finish. The Bears held a slim 2 point advantage at the half but eventually fell by three points after a gritty performance against a bigger and more experienced team. Jake Dahle scored 16 points while Mark Huber had 14 and Jacob Olsen finished with 12. Ren Fonnesbeck and Wyatt Roholt had 6 and 5 points respectively.
Congratulations to the Bears on a Great Tournament! They face their sister school, Box Elder, on Thursday, December 21st at Box Elder. Start your Christmas Break off with a great high school boys basketball game!
