Bear River traveled to Roy to compete with the 5A Roy Royals on Wednesday night. Roy jumped on the Bears early due to some cold shooting by the Bears in the early going and had to play catch-up for the remainder of the night. Roy took a three point lead into the first quarter break behind 6 points on two threes by Roy guard Kobe Schriver. That seemed to be a theme as he went on to make 7 threes and 29 points on the night. Bear River caught fire in the second quarter as the Bears make 6 threes of their own led by Mark Huber’s 4. Bear River would find considerable success behind the arc throughout the game as they posted a season-best 17 made three’s for the game. Despite those 17 three’s Roy made 12 of their own and were able to make an additional 17 two-point field goals as Bear River was never able to come up with the defensive stops they needed to pull out the win. Despite the loss Bear River played inspired offensive basketball and put on a show for those in attendance. Mark Huber led Bear River with 27 points including an impressive 7/10 shooting from three-point range. Ren Fonnesbeck made 5 three-pointers of his own and finished with 16 points. Wyatt Roholt had an impressive game posting a double-double with 14 points including 4 made three-point shots and a season-best 10 assists to go along with 5 steals. Parker Coombs reached double figures as well with 11 points, adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
